LAist Interview with Mike Gange of Howard TV

LAist loves the Howard Stern Show. We're Sirius subscribers, we have been known to defend his good name, we listened while he was #1 in LA, we're rooting him on as Sirius approaches 7 million subscribers, we even stood in line in Pasadena to get "Miss America" signed.

So when we got the opportunity to interview long-time producer, and former intern, Mike Gange, we had lots of questions that we were dying to know the answers to.

But unlike the Stern Show, where everything's on the table (and now that he's on Sirius satellite radio, everything is told in vividly frank adult language) -- from Artie's drug abuse tales, to Robin's child abuse tales, to tales of Howard's incredibly tiny schween -- some of the goings-on at HowardTV are off-limits. Not only were some of LAist's inside-baseball and fanboy questions crossed out, one was ignored and several of the answers seemed "deceptive" -- as the creaky-voiced Lie Detector guy sometimes says.

Regardless, he did answer some of the questions, and in anticipation of HowardTV's Penny Promotion for cable TV users, after the jump, we present our interview with Mike Gange.

LAist: Tens of millions of fans watched Howard on E! through DirecTV, which allows pay-per-view programming. When will Howard TV be on DirecTV?

Mike Gange
: I haven't heard anything about Howard TV making a DirecTV

Is Artie as self-destructive as he appears on the show?

Artie's gonna do what Artie wants to...and if he wants to eat and drink until he explodes I guess he'll do it.

On Howard's last day on regular radio, Doug asked Robin Quivers if he could spray her down with cooking oil and/or squeeze her breasts. Has Doug made any headway in squeezing Robin's cans?

No he hasn't, but if he does it'll definitely be on Howard TV.

Because of Sal, Richard, Elliot, Ralph, Elephant Boy, Cabbie, Siobhan, and now Big Foot, would you agree that there's at least a 35% chance of seeing something gay on Howard TV at any given time?

I'd say those are pretty good odds. What can I say, Sal & Richard like to take their clothes off and we at Howard TV think it's very funny.

As Howard has been able to produce his programming on the Internet, when will Howard TV have a way to download the iN Demand programming from the web as well?

I haven't heard about Howard TV being downloadable on the internet.

In what ways are Howard TV utilizing modern blessings such as YouTube to help market the iN Demand show?

When we can, Howard TV posts clips and montages of the show on You Tube, but similar to what was broadcast on E!, there are a lot of restrictions to comply with. Still, the only way to view the show completely uncensored is on Howard TV.

Benjy Bronk is listed as a writer for the HowardTV show. What jokes or bits recently would you say that Benjy was responsible for?

Benjy is an extremely funny guy who's contributed many ideas & bits to the show

Is HowardTV available in any hotel chains?

Howard TV is available in hotels, but I don't know which ones.

Howard TV has a great relationship with Bubba & Ferrell but there are no plans right now to air either of their programs.
