Brush fire burns 18 acres near 101 Freeway
A fire burning near the 101 Freeway and the Cahuenga Boulevard exit appeared to be largely under control, but firefighters were still fighting it late Tuesday afternoon.
There were no mandatory evacuations, but there was a voluntary evacuation for residents on Holly Drive.
"Those residents on Holly Drive, if they're feeling threatened, then they may desire to evacuate," the Los Angeles Fire Department's Margaret Stewart told KPCC.
The on-ramp and the off-ramp from the northbound 101 at Cahuenga was shut down as well.
They received a call about the fire at 3:04 p.m. As of late Tuesday afternoon, there were over 200 firefighters from LAFD fighting the fire, along with air support and six handcrews from L.A. County Fire.
"The bulk of the fire has been contained, but it's going to take into the evening for us to fully establish around the fire because of the steep terrain," Stewart said.
The fire has burned 18 acres so far. Firefighters were cutting a fire line to ensure there are no remaining hotspots.
