KCRW, which was in front of the pack when it began podcasting, will kick it up a notch today and begin vcasting. The new downloadable videos should be available through iTunes, although they don't seem to be as of this writing.

So far KCRW's vcast plans focus on unsigned artist performances on Morning Becomes Eclectic, with your (pictured) host Nic Harcourt. You know, there used to be a saying about having "a face for radio," and we're thinking maybe vcasting isn't playing to the radio station's strengths.

Not to mention that Harcourt's version of MBE has become pretty somnambulent. But maybe this is an inevitable step in the new on-demand download universe: instead of falling asleep in front of the TV, you'll now be able to fall asleep while watching your iPod.
