For those not not planning to attend the Festival of Books, there are a few Earth Day events around town this weekend: everything from KCET's Strange Planet screening event at the Aquarium of the Pacific to hand-on, down-and-dirty creek restoration projects. LA Weekly's Judith Lewis has a list of Los Angeles Earth Day events, as does Earth Day LA.Not a joiner? You don't have to sign up to plant a tree, ride your bike, or pick up some trash while you're at the beach. Or even to recycle and reuse.
