Driver From Donut-Spinning Chase Arrested For Road Rage Incident At UCLA
Some people just can't stay out of trouble.
Herschel Reynolds—one of the so-called "Drop Top Bandits" and the driver who spun donuts in the rain as he led police on a wild, very-L.A. chase through Hollywood in a rented Mustang—has been arrested again, this time in connection with a road rage incident at UCLA. On Monday night, campus Police confirmed that Reynolds was arrested over the weekend at his South Los Angeles home.
NBC Los Angeles reports that Reynolds has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor hit-and-run from an on-campus incident on the morning of April 16. Reynolds was out on bail after the police chase at the time.
During the UCLA incident, Reynolds was allegedly riding a Suzuki motorcycle on Strathmore Drive, near Charles E. Young Drive West, when he rear-ended an SUV. When the driver of the SUV tried to call 9-1-1, the motorcyclist tried to take his phone before riding off, hitting the driver and knocking him to the ground in an incident caught on video. KTLA says the SUV driver was the father of a prospective student.According to CBS Los Angeles, someone was able to take pictures of the motorcyclist, leading to the arrest of Reynolds on Saturday.

After his previous arrest last month—for a burglary in Cerritos and the subsequent police chase through Hollywood—it was revealed that the 20-year-old Reynolds was a former tactical driver for the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendelton who was later "prematurely discharged." According to a statement from the Pentagon, officials said, "the character of his service was incongruent with Marine Corps' expectations and standards."
