LudoBites.TEN: Ham Soup, Sea Creatures, & More From the Pop-Up's Final Installment
This week renowned chef Ludo Lefebvre and his team descended on Gram and Papa's kitchen in downtown LA for the final round of LudoBites, the beloved pop-up restaurant that surfaced back in 2007 and has since won the hearts of many Angelenos. We sat down for dinner and happily tasted the entire menu -- the best of the best from the last nine LudoBites -- and if the photos have you drooling, never fear: Camp out on Urbanspooon during the day, and you might still be able to swoop in and grab a table in the last two weeks of the event.
Though we're sad to say au revoir to LudoBites, Angelenos can rest at ease in the fact that Lefebvre's talents will remain in town. His next venture is a yet-to-be named restaurant co-run with hailed restauranteurs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo of Animal and Son of a Gun. Los Angeles will be eagerly waiting for the doors to open.
We asked Lefebvre's wife, Krissy, who essentially manages the operation and does front-of-house at the pop-up, what she's thinking this time around knowing that this is most likely the final installment of LudoBites. "I am feeling a bit sad as each night goes on. LudoBites has been the biggest part of my life (except the twins and Ludo) for the past few years, so it is difficult to say good-bye, but it is time for the future. Hopefully we can bring back LudoBites for some special engagements at some point, but it is definitely time for what's next," she told us.
Asked how he was feeling, Chef Lefebvre replied: "I wish I had time to think about it, but right now it is just time to work and focus on the food. I am not thinking about it being the last one in LA. Ask me in a couple of weeks. I guess I don't think I really realize it. The future is really exciting though and looking for toward to the next step with Jon and Vinny."
