Eva Restaurant to Shutter Due to Homeowners Association Battle

Talk about bad timing. Shortly after chef Mark Gold left for Copenhagen to learn some tricks at the world's best restaurant, Noma, the chef/owner of Eva got word that his restaurant was in some serious trouble. According to the Beverly Wilshire Homes Association, Gold's restaurant needs to obtain four more parking spaces in order to operate legally, which Gold's team says will $12,000.

The homeowners association is after Eva and other local restaurants because they take up parking in the area. In the case of Eva, their purchased, secured spaces are 1,000 feet from the restaurant instead of the required 750 feet, so the restaurant has to purchase some new spots or they'll lose their liquor license.

Gold and his team are hoping to raise those funds for new parking spots via donations, pleading for money in kind via Facebook and their newsletter.

"We have three days to come up with $12,000 for the final round of legal fees and an appeal to the city. If we don't file a another variance (meaning attorney's fees plus $7k for city fees) we will lose our liquor license, which would eventually put us out of business. Any donation you can provide is the greatest help these next few days," pleads the newsletter.

Eva will offer half of your donation in restaurant credit if they can stay open. Pair that with your no-cell phone discount, and you've got a decent deal.
