Whether you're looking for a low-key, lederhosen-free way to celebrate Oktoberfest or you just want to sip great beers with a top-notch meal, there's several cool events coming up that are worth checking out. Learn about the beers you try from the brewer, enjoy a thoughtfully chosen dish with each tasting and maybe discover your new favorite beer.
“Get Schooled” Craft Beer Dinner Series at Tom Bergin's
One of the oldest bars in L.A. has new tricks to teach you with a weekly beer series for October that kicks off tonight. Every Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m., Tom Bergin's will host special beer pairing dinners in their recently revamped dining room where you'll get to meet and talk with the brewer. The evening will include a four-course dinner with six 7-oz. pours of select brews, all for only $40 a person. Tonight's dinner features the brewers from craft beer pioneers Sierra Nevada. Upcoming dinners include brewers and beer from Inglewood-based, all-female founded Three Weavers Brewing Company on October 14; San Diego-based Ballast Point Brewery on October 21; and a fourth TBD brewer on October 28.

Abigaile Five-Course Beer Pairing Dinner
The Hermosa Beach brewery and restaurant continues their monthly beer pairing dinners this Thursday, October 8, with a special Oktoberfest-themed evening. Recently appointed head brewer Paul Papantonio—formerly of Oskar Blues and Saint Archer breweries—will host a killer five-course line-up of German-inspired food and craft beer. The pairings include a Victory Festbeir Marzen matched with an extensive sausage platter and a strong Stochasticity brew with Sauerbraten and crispy onion spätzle.
Abigaile will also be hosting a meet-the-brewer night with Papantonio on Friday, October 9 where there will be happy hour prices ($4 pints) all night on delicious pours like Uinta Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin and Firestone Wookey Jack.
They'll also be offering a week-long five-course tasting menu from Monday, October 12th - Saturday, October 17th, which will include some Oktoberfest-inspired dishes. The dinner is $50 per person and beer pairings can be added for $12.
Tickets can be purchased for Thursday's beer pairing dinner at Abigaile on their website, where you can also get VIP tickets for their Brewtopia event October 18, which features Oktoberfest beers and BBQ.
