One of the oldest bars in L.A. has new tricks to teach you with a weekly beer series for October that kicks off tonight. Every Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m., Tom Bergin's will host special beer pairing dinners in their recently revamped dining room where you'll get to meet and talk with the brewer. The evening will include a four-course dinner with six 7-oz. pours of select brews, all for only $40 a person. Tonight's dinner features the brewers from craft beer pioneers Sierra Nevada. Upcoming dinners include brewers and beer from Inglewood-based, all-female founded Three Weavers Brewing Company on October 14; San Diego-based Ballast Point Brewery on October 21; and a fourth TBD brewer on October 28.

Tickets for the dinners can be purchased by calling Tom Bergin’s at (323) 936-7151.

Abigaile Five-Course Beer Pairing Dinner

The Hermosa Beach brewery and restaurant continues their monthly beer pairing dinners this Thursday, October 8, with a special Oktoberfest-themed evening. Recently appointed head brewer Paul Papantonio—formerly of Oskar Blues and Saint Archer breweries—will host a killer five-course line-up of German-inspired food and craft beer. The pairings include a Victory Festbeir Marzen matched with an extensive sausage platter and a strong Stochasticity brew with Sauerbraten and crispy onion spätzle.

Abigaile will also be hosting a meet-the-brewer night with Papantonio on Friday, October 9 where there will be happy hour prices ($4 pints) all night on delicious pours like Uinta Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin and Firestone Wookey Jack.

They'll also be offering a week-long five-course tasting menu from Monday, October 12th - Saturday, October 17th, which will include some Oktoberfest-inspired dishes. The dinner is $50 per person and beer pairings can be added for $12.

Tickets can be purchased for Thursday's beer pairing dinner at Abigaile on their website, where you can also get VIP tickets for their Brewtopia event October 18, which features Oktoberfest beers and BBQ.

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.

Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.

We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.

No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.

Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.

Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
