A New Craft Beer Bar With Shuffleboard On The Patio Opens Tonight In Highland Park
Sipping a cold beer while playing shuffleboard on a big patio sounds to us like the perfect way to cool off tonight.
Block Party, a slick new craft beer bar, opens tonight in Highland Park and we can't wait to start shuffling on the huge shuffleboard on the back patio. Jason Eisner, beverage director of Gracias Madre and Café Gratitude, took a break from crafting cocktails to open this laid-back spot for sipping brews, according to Eater L.A.
The cooly sparse interior features a wraparound bar with rows of taps and shop stools, a wall length ledge to rest your beer and a massive stretch of coolers to chill the aforementioned beer. From the looks of it, there will be plenty of local craft brews, along with favorites from elsewhere. There's even Schlitz for those looking to tone down all that "craft" flavor.
While the cold beers, barebones interior and glowing "Block Party" neon sign will help lure you inside, a major draw to the bar is just out back. That's where you'll find a 3,000 square foot patio, which includes a regulation size shuffleboard court. Enough with those small, wimpy table shuffleboards. It's time to tap into your inner-retired-grandparent and start shufflin'. Among the shuffleboard, eight picnic tables with striped umbrellas and a wraparound wall of light-wood panels strung with lights, you may actually feel like you've retired after a few beers. Or that you've been invited to a sweet block party, we suppose.
And should you get hungry while enjoying your golden beers, there's a rad-looking hot dog cart at the back of the patio. The cart will be serving up dogs, both meat and vegan.
The block party kicks off at 5 p.m. tonight.
Block Party is located at 5052 York Blvd., Highland Park, (323) 741-BPHP (2747)
