Three Yips for the Ritz: Yappy Hour Starts April 7th

By Andreanna Ditton/Special to LAistLittle is better than hanging out in the lap of luxury with your favorite canine companion. Doing so with a glass of wine in hand while your pooch frolics with new friends pretty much makes the occasion perfect. The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel is making the fantasy a reality with the launch of its “Yappy Hour,” a monthly event created to raise money for the Pet Project Foundation.
Hotel guests and visitors are encouraged to bring their dogs and hang out on the Dana Lawn, enjoying fine wines from the Mutt Lynch Winery while their pups play and partake in their own specialty happy hour. Complimentary flavored waters in bacon, chicken, cheese, beef or liver will be served to the dogs, while special guests including an animal behavior specialist, pet photographer and other artists help proud owners indulge and understand their companions. A portion of all proceeds will go to the Pet Project Foundation to be used towards providing homes and shelter for animals from the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter. “Yappy Hour” starts April 7, from 5-8 p.m., and will run once a month for the next six months.
The hotel is already known for it’s pet friendly policies. Well-behaved, disease-free dogs and cats are always welcome to vacation with their owners, and there is a $150 deposit fee and a $50 boarding fee to cover the cost of cleaning. Pets are allowed in specific areas of the hotel (leashed or held, of course) and along the public beach walks. No puppies in the pool or spa though. Fido will have to find his own masseuse. The “Yappy Hour” is another great way for the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel to further extend its customary warm welcome to dogs from all over. And to their humans too, of course.
