The unexpectedly huge SyFy cult hit Sharknado debuted across the country in real theaters and the stars turned out for the Los Angeles premiere at L.A. Live's Regal Cinemas Friday night, including shark-battling cast Tara Reid, Ian Ziering, Cassie Scerbo and Christopher Wolfe.

The event also drew former 21 Jump Street star Richard Grieco, John Heard and assorted fans wearing their finest shark costumes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the special midnight screening in 200 Regal-owned theaters over the weekend took in less than $200,000.

That probably won't dampen the planned sequel, which should be out next year, although maybe only on cable TV this time around.
