Pets of the Week: Orlando Bleu, Valentina & Chip
Orlando Bleu and Valentina are lovebirds! Orlando Bleu is a 3 year old, 7 lb. male. He is quite exotic-looking with his coat that resembles a cheetah and his amazing Caribbean-blue eyes. This young pup really stands out in a crowd. He is quite the romantic and is not shy about his affection. He loves to cuddle! He also thrives in an active lifestyle. He is crate and house trained and ready to go to a new home today.
Valentina is a 1-year-old, female, 4 lb. Chihuahua who was rescued by animal control when they found her in the middle of a dog fight. The poor girl had been attacked! Black and white on the outside, her inner sunny disposition makes dogs big and small adore her. She is quite the flirt, but don't wait for cupid to strike; strike first and adopt Valentina! Valentina adores her foster brother, Orlando Bleu. The two would love to be placed together, but it's not a requirement.
Orlando Bleu and Valentina attends the Bill Foundation's Sunday adoption events along with most of their other available dogs at the Healthy Spot Pet Supply Store, this Sunday 11am-3 pm.
Chip is what we call the "quarterback kitty," full of confidence, eager to explore new spaces, and meet new people. Chip knows what he wants and how to get it (food and cuddles rank high on his list). Chip, who is nearly three months old, has grown up around other kittens and adult cats and while he loves them and would be happy to go home with a sibling or to a home with cats, he can also be adopted alone to a busy family with lots of people to give him the attention he craves. Chip is available for adoption through Luxe Paws, an animal organization that works with local businesses and chambers of commerce within Silverlake and its surrounds to create adoption events, spread education about the pet overpopulation crisis within LA, and match people with their perfect pet. Luxe Paws is having an adoption event at Meowdy today, Saturday August 25, 11am-8pm.
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
