Pets of the Week: Buboi & Willy
Buboi is 16 pounds of pure marshmallow! He is a 5-year-old bluepoint Siamese polydactyl. Polydactyls or "Hemingway cats" have an extra digit on their paws. Buboi is an anti-bullying advocate; he does not do well with dominant or aggressive cats. He gets along fine with kitties who would like to be balanced buddies. He doesn't mind being the only cat in the household. Human companionship is what really makes him happy. Buboi will tolerate dogs who are not cat reactive. He loves to play, toss, and chase his toys.
Buboi is available from the Southern California Siamese Rescue. They do not have a shelter—all of their cats are fostered in private homes and can be viewed on their website. Siamese Cat Rescue's greatest challenge is finding foster homes for their rescues. Contact SCSR if you are interested in volunteering, donating, fostering or adopting Buboi.
Wilma is a beautiful Harlequin Great Dane. She has crystal blue eyes and a stunning black and white coat. Willy is 7 years old and 100 pounds, which is a small sized female Dane. Willy is great with everyone she meets, loves going on walks, and walks well on leash. She is house-trained and has been in a home all her life. Willy would prefer to be in a home as the only dog or with another large dog (she lived with a Lab in her previous home). Willy is in excellent health with good teeth, and is full of energy. She is sweet and endearing with a bright and happy personality. Her tail never stops wagging! She knows "sit" and "lay down" and heels nicely on lead. She would like a human companion experienced with the Great Dane breed. Due to her large size, she would be best placed with kids over the age of 15.Willy is available for adoption from Animals Rule Rescue. You can meet Willy at the Animals Rule Saturday adoption event from 11am-3pm at Creative Pet Supply. Willy is spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and current on all her vaccinations. Animals Rule Rescue is a group of non-paid volunteers who rescue and foster animals in need of adoption and find them permanent forever homes. Their motto is, "Don't buy, don't breed, adopt!" Indeed.
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
