On-Set: 'Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody' (SFW), Part 1

"On-Set" is an ongoing safe-for-work glimpse inside the adult industry. LAist has visited the sets of movies directed by award-winners Lee Roy Myers, Sam Hain, Belladonna, Kimberly Kane, and Axel Braun, and include parodies of Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, The X-Files, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, Tron, Reservoir Dogs, Revenge of the Nerds, The Justice League, and Sailor Moon.

When director Sam Hain told us last year of his plans to film a porn parody of Star Trek: The Next Generation, we could hardly contain our excitement, as his parodies of The X-Files (The Sex Files: A Dark XXX Parody and its sequel) were respectful of the series' established canon and received several prizes including Best Parody - Drama at the recent XRCO Awards.

Flashforward to this past January, when LAist and other media visited the Enterprise-D bridge. "A massive Next Generation fan, [Hain] told us that he actually did the opposite of what most other porn writers do - he came up with a TNG story that he wanted to tell, and only then did he put the sex scenes in," reported Alasdair Wilkins from io9. "Indeed, he very consciously designed this movie to fit with established TNG continuity... Most intriguingly, the movie serves as an unofficial sequel to one of The Next Generation's finest hours: 'Yesterday's Enterprise.' In fact, it's remarkable how much the script just reads like an above-average work of fan fiction that only happens to feature some pornography. Hain does a decent job of capturing the voices of the original characters, and the sexual pairings are largely true to the relationships and suggested pairings on the original show -- only, you know, they actually have sex this time around."

And with an impressive cast of pornstars that included several Next Generation fans (Kimberly Kane, April O'Neil, Dana DeArmond, and Bobbi Starr), Hain found the perfect person to play Captain Picard at, befittingly, a Star Trek convention -- though Giles' double for the sex scene was Xander Corvus, who also played Data when Anthony Rosano dropped out due to major discomfort with the contact lenses.

"The music and greenscreen work for 'TNG' are excellent and, just as in the original, bits of subtle humor pop up now and then," said Gram Ponante in his review of the parody for Fleshbot. "While the fight choreography left a little to be desired, it was more than compensated for by bits of real poignance and thoughtfulness utterly uncharacteristic of parodies, proving that some porn performers can handle a mouthful of dialogue just as well as they can a mouthful of-well, you get the idea."

Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody is out now from Digital Sin and Revolution X.

To be continued.
