Mon 5/22 - Architecture in Helsinki/ Tussle @ Troubadour (Sold Out) –Melbourne, Australia’s Architecture in Helsinki are an eight piece indie band. Pitchforkgave their last album an 8.8 and compared them to Fiery Furnaces. They seem like really nice kids and their fanbase keeps growing everytime they play LA. San Francisco’s Tussle makes instrumental dub-dance-indie-electronic music. Download Tussle’s “DiscoD'oro - Munk Remix

Tues 5/23 - George Clinton and Parliament@ House of Blues ($36-40) – You have to pay your respects to our living legends. Mothership Connection is probably their creative peak, but there are tons of other classic tracks sprinkled throughout their career (“Up for the Down Stroke” and “If it Don’t Fit (Don’t Force It)” just to name two). And if you love Outkast but don’t own Chocolate City, you’re missing out.

Wed 5/24 – Golden Arms/ Judgement Day@ Knitting Factory ($7) – Golden Arms is a local band that sounds a bit like Idlewild. Judgement Day features the touring violin player from Bright Eyes with his brother on cello and a drummer. They play “string metal.”

Thurs 5/25 - Benefit for Keith Tamashiro@ the Mayan ($75) – The price is steep, but it’s for a good cause. Tamashiro’s a graphic designer who has done a lot of cool album covers. He had a brain aneurysm and needs help with health care. Seeing Cut Chemist, Jurassic 5, DJ Shadow, Dilated Peoples, Beat Junkies, Madlib, MF Doomand others on the same stage is a rare opportunity.
