Lisa Congdon is a San Francisco based artist who does a lot of mixed media and illustration works, and makes some really awesome collages. Lisa is mostly self-taught and uses her own sense of design to guide her creativity. She's also the co-owner and curator of Rare Device in San Francisco.

Starting Friday, her new show 'Charming Creatures' opens at Firefly in Venice. The art in the show looks amazing. It has an overall nautical feel to it, with paintings of sea creatures and vibrantly colored collages, like the one above, which is my personal favorite. I love a good collage, with all sorts of tiny scraps of things from here and there. But her collages are definitely even cooler after she puts her ornate little drawings on top of them. They go together so well with the collages that you hardly realize they're even there.

The show opens on Friday, from 6 to 10pm, so if you're in the area, pop in and say hi!
And if you'd like a preview of the show, check out her Flickr with a ton of great photos.
