LAst Night's Action: Crazy Dodgers-Padres Rumble In San Diego

Congress has cut federal funding for public media — a $3.4 million loss for LAist. We count on readers like you to protect our nonprofit newsroom. Become a monthly member and sustain local journalism.

San Diego Fireworks. As we say in media circles, sh*t just got real. In the bottom of the sixth inning of what would be a Dodgers win over the Padres (3-2; see scoreboard below), Zack Greinke hit Carlos Quentin with a pitch. A brawl erupted.

According to the official box score, Quentin, Matt Kemp and Jerry Hairston, Jr. were ejected. Greinke left due an injury which we have found out was a broken collarbone. (Reminder: his contract is worth $147 million). But it wasn't over.

After the game, it wasn't like Prince Fielder charging to get into the Dodger clubhouse, but reporters were around for some postgame pleasantries.

But there were some niceties.

The Dodgers have a three-game series against the Padres at home starting on Monday.

Some Padres fans were happy that their team beat up the Dodgers. I guess they didn't see the final score.

By the way, Juan Uribe is the home run leader for the Dodgers.
