I will punch you. Photo via LAist Flickr pool courtesy acthamer.
There's lots of outside-the-mainstream greatness going on this week, with Patton Oswalt and Bobcat Goldthwait both doing Cinefamily stuff, Fries On The Side closing out their great season up in North Hollywood, and the not to be missed Celebrity Autobiography show at Largo. Get out, laugh it up, and let Farley know what else is on the horizon.
MONDAY 06/15
All Skate, 7p Second City. Long form improvised musicals as done by some great performers from all over town.
Celebrity Autobiography, 8p Largo. Eugene Pack and Craig Bierko step up to the plate with some of their comedian friends to read excerpts from autobiographies. The result is always comical.
TUESDAY 06/16
Avalon Showcase, 8p The Improv. Greg Behrendt, Adam DeVine, Jen Kirkman and Matt Braunger are all out to impress. The least you could do is show up.
A Night with Bobcat Goldthwait, 8p Cinefamily. The man with the voice you couldn’t imitate if you wanted to presents a night of found footage and laughs. Should be awesome.
WEDNESDAY 06/17
You Say Tomato..., 8p Comedy Central Stage. As this show heads for print format, come take a look at what it means to be married and actually able to talk shit to each other.
Sarah Silverman & Friends, 8:30p Largo. Sarah is back in her monthly slot, bringing her stand up pals along for the ride.
THURSDAY 06/18
The Matt Jonestown Massacre, 8p UCB. The hilarious Matt Jones takes the stage solo to give a bit of background on what made him the man he is today, and just how much of an asshole he really can be.
Dasariski: Dead Uncle Ted, 10p iO West. The Dasariski geniuses do their monthly sketch show. Always fucking fantastic.
FRIDAY 06/19
Patton Oswalt, 8p Cinefamily. Patton intros the crazy film God Told Me To. Beautiful.
Let’s Do This!, 11p UCB. For the second week in a row, this improv showcase turns up the heat. This week has Benderdangle, sketch-but-doing-improv prodigies Kodiak Park, and newcomers Boomtown.
SATURDAY 06/20
Dom Irrera, 9:15p Comedy & Magic Club. The legend hits the stage. Sure, there’s a 7p show, but you know you need to make it to the late show when it’s Dom.
Fries On The Side, 9:30p SMC Theatre. Fries closes it’s season with this blowout show, hosted by James Adomian. Go go GO to this fucking amazing show.
SUNDAY 06/21
Sketch Cage Match, 8p iO West. Get back on board sketch Sundays at iO West with a whole batch of sketches to vote on, winner take all!
Rebels of Comedy, 9:30p The Improv. The twice-a-month show is back at The Improv, showing some of the great up and comers in the business.
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
