It's your last chance to cram for the Oscars! The Academy sponsors three symposiums with the nominees for Animated Feature Film (Friday night), Foreign Language Film (Saturday morning) and Makeup (Saturday afternoon). As of this writing, only Animated Feature Film (hosted by Patton Oswalt) has tickets available, but all will stream online. The Egyptian hosts two free panels on Saturday morning, one with the Oscar-nominated editors and another for production designers.

Of course, there's no greater advocate for a nominee than the film itself. The Cinefamily continues its run of Foreign Language Film nominee Bullhead. The Belgian crime film follows a steroid-ravaged cattle farmer caught in a violent spiral of past traumas & current troubles. Bullhead also plays at several Laemmle locations, flanked by fellow nominees A Separation, Albert Nobbs, The Artist, The Descendants, Hugo, The Iron Lady, Midnight in Paris, My Week With Marilyn & Pina, as well as the short documentaries, live action & animated films.

It's also a big weekend for Oscar's redheaded stepbrother Razzie, who "honors" moviedom's most maligned misfits. While the Razzie Awards ceremony isn't until April 1st, nominees will be announced Saturday at Magicopolis. It's a tragedy that Birdemic: Shock & Terror was shut out last year, but exploding eagles always soar in the hearts of the Cinefamily. Friday at midnight, writer/director/software salesman James Nguyen returns for an anniversary screening of his beloved original (if you're new to Birdemic, check out our original interview with Nguyen from 2010) and a preview of Birdemic II: The Resurrection 3D. Now that the Razzies has a "Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3-D" category, we can only hope their voting body will rectify their mistake next year!

(A Troma "safe" trailer is still definitely NSFW.)

For further razzle-dazzle, check out any number of midnight premieres this weekend. Friday brings Father's Day, an ultra-violent, even-ultraer-low-budget exploitation throwback from Troma on Friday at the Nuart. Producer/Troma head honcho Lloyd Kaufman will be in attendance. Saturday, it's The Warriors meets Step Up for the video game generation with postapocalyptic gangland spoof The FP back at Cinefamily. But the only film brave enough to tackle both nights is the most mysterious: Internal Behaviors Part 2: The Regurgitation. We've never heard of the original, nor can we make out any sort of tone or story from the trailer (is it martial arts? police drama? should we be glad nobody's actually regurgitating anything?), but it's produced in Whittier and stars Ron Jeremy, which is plenty to pique our interest.
