LA Loves the Book People

Who says we aren't literary on the left coast? Yesterday we talked about the launch of the litblog co-op and today Daily Variety and the New York Times report that the Harper-Collins imprint, Regan Books, is planning to move to Los Angeles by the end of the year.
Judith Regan is no stranger to LA stories. She's made much of her success on the publishing of books by screen writers and actresses, documentarians and porn stars. Most recently she published Jose Canseco's Juiced which, while not a SoCal tale, is probably being made into a made for tv movie as we speak (not to mention he was just in town recently shooting the next Surreal Life).
The move marks one of the first times that a book publisher has left the paper and binding jungle of Manhattan for the celluloid sunsets of Hollywood.
