Disneyland Wants To Build A Huge New Parking Lot
Big things are a-brewin' at Disneyland (as usual), though this time it doesn't come to us in the form a cool new attraction or hotel.On Wednesday, Disney filed a proposal with the city of Anaheim to construct a massive 7-story, 6,800-space parking lot, according to the O.C. Register. The site of the lot, which is part of a larger project dubbed the Eastern Gateway, would be across Harbor Boulevard from the park and on Disney Way against the 5 freeway.
The site is currently a Carousel Inn and Suites, which Disney purchased last year, and will be closed in October and eventually torn down. A pedestrian walkway over Harbor Boulevard would bring visitors who use this new hub to the park, and plans show direct access from an offramp off the 5 freeway. The project is expected to be completed in 2018.
"The largest infrastructure project in the Anaheim Resort Area in the last 20 years, the Eastern Gateway will make it even easier to get to the Happiest Place on Earth by providing an east-side entry point to the Anaheim Resort Area," a spokeswoman for the Disney resorts wrote on the Disney Parks Blog.

Along with Star Wars Land, the Eastern Gateway is part of a $1 billion investment Disneyland has pledged in exchange for a 30-year exemption on gate taxes. "The Eastern Gateway is part of our substantial investment in Anaheim, which will provide additional guest parking and help to alleviate congestion in the Resort District as we continue to expand the Disneyland Resort," Disney spokeswoman Suzi Brown said.
So that's cool. But come on Disney, when are we gonna get Star Wars Land?
