For Sale: Colorful Malibu Ranch Designed By Famed Hollywood Art Director
A vibrantly colored and sprawling Malibu ranch is now on the market for $3.995 million.
This particular home sits on 39 acres, has its own tennis court, swimming pool and waterfall, as well as a gourmet kitchen. According to the listing, there are also two guest houses on the property.
The home was designed by Hollywood art director Lyle Wheeler, according to Your California Realty Blog. Wheeler worked on over 350 films and was nominated for 29 Academy Awards, winning five for Gone with the Wind, Anna and the King of Siam, The Robe, The King and I and The Diary of Anne Frank. He would later sell the statues to pay off a debt he owed to a storage facility, but was ultimately returned the award for The Diary of Anne Frank by a fan. Wheeler died of pneumonia in 1990, and was posthumously inducted into the Art Directors Guild Hall of Fame, which formed in 2005, in 2008.
