Does Dating Suck in L.A.? Your Responses to 7 Reasons Why

Our mention of Dr. Alex Benzer's list of 7 reasons while dating is tough in Los Angeles definitely struck a chord with readers. Mostly, people agreed with him. "Oh wow... that is true... dang..." twittered Austin Szu. "The same difficulties apply to spontaneous fun and making plans," noted an astute Mary Rice Schuyler, who we hope has no problems finding dates with quite possibly the sexiest Twitter profile photo out there.
In LAist's comment section, Katy explains that the uneven ratio of men to women--89,000 more single men than women--is working well for her: "I moved here from NYC a year ago (where dating was extremely tough for me- and many women- in part the sex ratio is opposite there) and not only have I dated more in the past year than I did in NYC, but I've met people and made real friends much more easily here."
Back on Twitter, Stephanie Bayer added one to the list: "They forgot the douchecanoe factor. Too many douchecanoes in this city." Just in case that needs further explanation, a douchecanoe is "someone who exceedes the limits of being a normal douche or douche bag," according to the wisdom of Urban Dictionary.
