Dad Assaults, Stabs Ex-Wife in Front of Children During Custody Exchange

While picking his children up during a custody exchange, a Burbank man is accused of physically assaulting the children's mother and then stabbing her when she tried to flee the scene.
According to a statement released by the Burbank Police Department, 48-year-old Trino Godinez went to pick up his two kids this morning at 8:00 a.m. near San Fernando Blvd. and Buena Vista St. After climbing into his ex-wife's car with the children in the backseat, Godinez allegedly forced the victim into the passenger seat then pulled out a handgun.
He then began to physically assault her, and drive away. She finally made her way out of the car, at which point he chased her and began stabbing her.
Godinez was restrained by some witnesses, who held him down until police showed up. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
Godinez is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
