Reports of a bear sighting last Thursday in La Cañada Flintridge have been linked to a 911 call from a woman whose backyard chicken coop was raided by the bear. Four chickens were found dead.

"It was horrifying," Wendy Blair of the 1700 block of Bonita Vista Drive told La Canada Flintridge Patch editor Donna Evans. "I banged my pots and pans and the bear took off, but I keep thinking it'll come back again."

Blair is keeping a watchful eye on her remaining five hens as its not uncommon for bears to make casual visits to backyards in the foothills.
