Gunman Fires Assault Rifle In Century City Mall During Rolex Store Robbery
Masked men robbed a Rolex store in a Century City mall with assault rifles and escaped in broad daylight.
The two thieves held up Geary's, the high-end watch store in the Westfield Century City mall around noon yesterday, reports KTLA. When the store's security guard saw the masked men coming up the mall's escalator armed with assault rifles, he attempted to lock the doors to the store. But before he could, one of the men fired off a round into the store. The men then ordered everyone in the store to lay down, and then grabbed an undisclosed number of watches, before fleeing.
The thieves then met with a third suspect who was driving a stolen getaway car. But they quickly ditched the vehicle on Century Park West and fled on foot, climbing a wall to disappear into a residential neighborhood. LAPD set up a 5-block perimeter to search for the men, as neighbors saw the men running through the area. Police K-9 units tried to track the men using a beanie that was left behind, but were unable to locate them.
No injuries were reported and police are still searching for the three men. The only description released for the trio is that they are black and were wearing black clothing.
