Boy Band Lunch Break - *NSYNC
It all started with talk of Posh & Becks moving to Los Angeles. Then it was about Posh and the Spice Girls and their horrible videos. The conversation turned to boy bands of the same era (give or take) and their horrendous videos that often seemed sexually, well, questionable. LAist has now officially laughed ourselves silly watching these old videos and have to share them with you. They have a certain, "this can't possibly be for real" quality to them. So each day this week at lunch we are sharing a boy band classic video with you.
You knew *NSYNC would be in this illustrious group. We were torn between going obscure or classic and just couldn't help but pick "Tearing Up My Heart" and here's why. First, they sport tying shirts around your waist, which save for some outdoor music festival in Utah, no one does anymore. Second, there is random weight lifting/boxing to show how MANLY they are when two seconds later they're in hair and makeup for a fashion shoot because they're FABULOUS. Third, JT just shakes his moneymaker through the whole thing, and he didn't have to bring sexy back -- just watch the video: it was never really gone, but was there all along.
For kicks, *NSYNC did venture into "seasonal" recordings and wow, their holiday medley video is really tacky and kitschy.
