Ask the MACist -- MacWorld Expo Edition -- Pt. 1

Welcome to part one of a special week of "Ask the MACist" coming to you live-ish from beautiful and rather warm San Francisco. I'm here because this week all things Macintosh converge and the faithful enjoy a full week of all-Mac goodness known as Mac World Expo. At the expo, all the newest Apple goodies will be reveled for all to see and touch and yours truly will be right in the middle of it.
Today, after what seemed like a pretty quick car ride from LA proper to San Francisco, I have arrived at the beautiful Marriott Hotel, which will be my HQ for the duration. Coincidentally, it is also the main hotel for the expo, so as an attendee (a Platinum attendee, thank you very much Apple) I will be enjoying free in-room Internet as well as free local and long distance calls.
Although, its the least the Marriott can do considering they charge 40 bucks a day for parking. Yes, its 40 bucks a day and yes, its a rip off. But what can I say, its a business expense so at least I get to write it off, which is something Anyway, tomorrow is the exciting keynote presentation by Mr. Steve Jobs where he will no doubt be thrilling the Mac faithful with the newest toys from the minds of the geniuses in Cupertino.

Don't worry, I'll be there and will report back with as many details as I can remember. Until then, I'll go out on a limb and make one or two predictions for the Keynote. First, Apple will update the iPods to include larger screens as well as some sort of wireless. They will also increase the capacity but sadly, battery life will probably stay about the same. Also, they will announce a small laptop to replace the 12" Powerbook I'm using now and it will be flash drive based instead of hard drive based and I will order one immediately if it really is announced.
Also, Apple will announce a new iPod with cell phone capability that will be GSM only at first and be exclusive to Cingular. They will also offer an unlocked version as well which I will also be ordering immediately. Lastly, I can say with 100% confidence Apple will announce iLife '07 and iWork '07 complete with new spreadsheet program much like Microsoft's Excel. Whew, that's it for now. I wonder how many of these I will get right? Well, we'll find out soon enough.
