AM news: gas, Mayor V, Mahoney and a bandit
going up: gas prices. Start counting your mpgs.
heeeeeeeere's Antonio! Mayor Villaraigosa delivers his first state of the union state city speech tonight at 5:30pm. It'll be webcast live, and broadcast live on that bigger glowing box on ABC-7 and Channel 35.
bummer for Mahoney: The US Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal by the LA Archdiosese, which was trying to keep the personnel papers of two priests secret. The priests have been accused of sexual abuse; the Archdiosese, led by Cardinal Mahoney, must now turn the papers over to a grand jury hearing the accusations. That might result in criminal charges; dozens of civil cases are also pending.
steak & steel x2: The upscale restaurant Houston's in Pasadena was burglarized during the dinner rush on Thursday last week by a hooded bandit wielding a gun &mdash and on Saturday he came back. Apparently he wasn't after seconds — frustrated that he couldn't get into the restaurant's safe (perhaps because the key-holding manager skedaddled) the robber returned and, we assume, got what he wanted.
