1 Dead, 10 Injured After Shooting At Compton Warehouse Party

Congress has cut federal funding for public media — a $3.4 million loss for LAist. We count on readers like you to protect our nonprofit newsroom. Become a monthly member and sustain local journalism.

One man was killed and ten more people were left injured after a shooting took place at a warehouse in Compton early Sunday morning. As NBC L.A. notes, the number of casualties render this a "mass shooting," according to the government's definition.

KTLA reports the shooting occurred just before 1:45 a.m in the 900 block of West Victoria Street. According to NBC L.A. around 100 to 150 people were at the party in the warehouse.

Sgt. Connor of the Sheriff department's Compton Station told KTLA that the shooting was gang-related, and that the involved parties were firing at each other. It was not yet known if any bystanders were hit.

When police arrived, one of the men found shot was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Ten other victims who had suffered injuries from the shooting were taken to various hospitals, and their conditions are unknown.
