What we know so far: As of 1:30 p.m., the fire, which broke out around 1 a.m., had grown to 577 acres and was 40% contained as of Friday, according to the L.A. County Fire Department.

The King Fire just north of Pyramid Lake off the 5 Freeway had grown to 577 acres and is now 40% contained as of Friday, according to the L.A. County Fire Department.
Multiple evacuation warnings were issued early Thursday in response to the fire, which was first reported at 1 a.m.. A shelter in place order was issued at about 2 a.m. for residents near where the fire broke out.
It's unclear how the fire started.
Two recreational vehicles burned at the Pyramid Lake RV park.
Both aircraft and firefighters on the ground have been trying to keep the fire from jumping the 5 Freeway.
The freeway is closed between Lake Hughes Road and the State Route 138 in Castaic, though it's been reopening sporadically throughout the day.
