HBO has been known to push the envelope. Thanks to the fact that subscribers pay extra for the channel, and there are no commercials, the network is neither beholden to the FCC or uptight whiners. Without those restrictions, the network has been able to blossom with adult-orientated shows like The Sopranos, Taxi Cab Confessions, and Entourage. Now there's word that HBO has a new series about sex that actually shows real penetration between the...

This summer LAist is going to tackle an ambitious project. We are going to attempt to do a post about every neighborhood in Los Angeles based on LA City Nerd's 172 known designated communities. It might take us into the fall, but every neighborhood/community will be covered, in this lighthearted, and clearly not definitive, tour of LA. If you would like to send us information, tidbits, little known facts, or full blown posts about...

A comedian dressed as Osama Bin Ladin was spotted downtown trying to do a lame bit, but it made us realize something: fake Osamas are funny. We don't know why fake Osamas are funny. The real one is an evildoer and all. And he probably had something to do with 9/11, but given the lack of attention that our government is paying to him, we're starting to doubt it. Seriously, if bro really orchestrated...

There are very few bands that I hate more than Taking Back Sunday. Linkin Park is one of em. Remember that dog that used to say that he'd like to poop on things. I'd like to poop on the Projekt Revolution tour. Then I'd like to smear that poop on other things that I hate, like the current White House, assholes who try to politicize things like global warming and pretend it isn't happening,...

Four men in their 20's were arrested Saturday in connection with a series of robberies that went down Friday night in North Hollywood. Despite only two of the men having the same last names, police are saying that they are all brothers in crime. Jose Alberto Garcia, a 25-year-old construction worker from Reseda, and Jose Cruz Ibarra, 22, from Reseda were arrested in the 7300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in North Hollywood. Juan...

Last month CBS and Fox News refused to air a condom ad produced for Trojan condoms (which you can see after the jump). It's just a funny ad about pigs, men, and women. Oh, and our relationship with safer sex. We understand why Fox would have its head up its ass in regard to cockblocking interesting and important advertising, but CBS? Here's what the Tiffany Network said of the spot "while we understand and...

Goldenboy opened for The Rentals last night at Spaceland and sounded beautiful and sweet. The perfect set-up for the beautiful and sweet Rentals. We would have loved to have brought you photos of Goldenboy, whose sophomore offering, Underneath The Radio (EenieMeenie Records) is gentle and calming and warm, but our summer intern was late to the sold out show, and arrived late with our camera, plus, the settings were way off. Speaking of which,...
