Brad Mehldau has some great covers of Radiohead songs on youtube, go check them out. Or check him out this Friday at the Walt Disney Concert Hall (Radiohead not included). Also, now that you've seen Black Swan and want to talk about ballet all the time with your friends, you can take them to OCPAC this week to check out Reflections, a dance event featuring some top-notch dancers performing some classics and world premieres.

If you're not humbugging, you can watch the Nutcracker at any the following twinkling venues across the region. And did you know there are other types of holiday concerts that aren't the Nutcracker!? There are!! We've got that list too. See our picks for the best of the best in classical music this week.

Been in a mood to watch ballet? it's probably b/c it's Nutcracker season, or you just watched Black Swan. Although we'd rather go see Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto (insert eye-roll here) and Dvorak's 9th (you've probably heard both of them) this weekend with the Pacific Symphony, we know that Christmas is coming up and to get you in the mood, here are a few performances of the Nutcracker (no Messiah yet, sorry): It's probably...

As we mentioned last week, you can still catch Lohengrin this Sunday. It's a little quiet this week thanks to Thanksgiving, but it looks like a good week for opera lovers. The LA Times just profiled opera star Bryn Terfel, and you can check him out tomorrow night in the other music center, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The program is heavy on Schumann (we're a nostalgic bunch). For the Wagnerites, Salonen is...

Salonen and Lindberg go way back. Although he is known for his use of live electronics during performances, Graffiti is exciting because it's his first work for choir and orchestra. If you're not familiar with Lindberg, he's a famous Finnish (makes sense) composer who also happens to be the composer-in-residence at the NY Phil, and curates CONTACT!, their equivalent of the Green Umbrella Series here. You can check it out on Friday at 8...

Okay, you'll probably never see another viola/violist highlighted in the Classical Pick (don't worry they're used to it) but it's Yuri Bashmet! He's taking his talents to Costa Mesa (OCPAC) to join Lynn Harrell and Anne-Sophie Mutter in a super trio this Wednesday. Culver City: Although everyone's going gaga over Tron, Royal/T is also playing host to some exciting musical guests. On Wednesday at 8 PM, harpist Anne LeBaron is celebrating her CD release...

If you haven't entered to win tickets to go see LACO perform Beethoven's 7th Symphony, click here. You can double your chances by entering on Facebook as well. Carl St. Clair is conducting, so you can see what all the fuss is about without driving all the way to the OC. If you're frantically refreshing LAist and looking for something unique to do for Halloween (besides watching Justin Bieber at the Grove) we'll always...
