A sewage spill has forced officials to close down a one-mile stretch of beach near Ballona Creek today, and the beach will remain off-limits to surfers and swimmers until at least late Thursday afternoon.

Los Angeles Police are investigating the discovery of a human head in a bag in the Hollywood Hills as a homicide. The head was found late this afternoon by two women out for a walk in the 3200 block of Canyon Drive, reports City News Service. News reports describe the remains as being "relatively fresh."

Details about two suspects arrested for the murder of 17-year-old high school student and soccer player Francisco "Pancho" Rodriguez were made public today by the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities say 24-year-old Jason Schumann and 19-year-old Elizabeth Ibarra, both from Calabasas, are being held without bail in connection with the murder.

A San Diego County boy is accused of fatally stabbing his friend and neighbor. A Colton man died Sunday night in police custody after he was Tasered by cops. Officers responding to a disturbance call opted to use a Taser on 43-year-old Hutalio Serrano when the man did not follow the police's commands and resisted arrest, reports the Press-Enterprise.
