  • As we say in media circles, sh*t just got real. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Zack Greinke hit Carlos Quentin with a pitch. A brawl erupted.

  • We're a week into the Dodger season, and the Dodgers need to be thankful to whomever they bribed to get the Pittsburgh Pirates on the schedule in the first week. With a 6-2 win on Sunday, the Dodgers swept the series and have a respectable 4-2 record.
  • LA Clippers defeat LA Lakers 109-95. Kobe Bryant (LAL): 25 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists. Chris Paul (LAC): 24 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists, 3 steals. Blake Griffin (LAC): 24 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists.
  • Louisville head coach Rick Pitino was quite a busy man on Saturday. You can almost understand why his team didn't look 100% sharp in their Final Four game against Witchita State in their 72-68. It wasn't the absence of Kevin Ware on the floor. I suspect he had more than a passing interest in what was going on at Santa Anita. As RAP Racing, Pitino owns a small stake in the Doug O'Neill-trained Goldencents running in the $750,000 Grade I Santa Anita Derby.
  • LA Kings defeat Edmonton Oilers 4-1 Kings: Mike Richards (9, 1:38 1st), Jeff Carter (22, 15:35 1st PP), Slava Voynov (5, 8:21 2nd PP), Drew Doughty (2, 19:11 3rd EV-EN) Oilers: Magnus Paajarvi (8, 2:18 2nd PP)
  • The Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0. It was a small miracle that I was able to witness the entire game. I had to skip out of the press conference for the Goldencents team at Santa Anita just to ensure I would get to the Ravine in time.
  • "There are a thousand people who want to be comedians," Don Mattingly told me. "That's what my dad told me when I was being..." Mattingly's voice trailed off with a smirk. He didn't need to finish the sentence. Snarky, sarcastic, a jackass. Whatever. I deserved it. I was being snarky.
