Nothing like knowing that the men in blue have your back! Well, unless they're going to shoot you, pummel you, tase you, or, most recently, rape you. LAPD Officer Russell Mecano, 43, has been convicted of sexually assaulting one young woman and soliciting another for sex while on duty in 2008, reports the LA Times. The two events, which happened within weeks of each other, resulted in Mecano's arrest the same year, and his conviction on both counts yesterday.

You know what your cupcake is missing? A sleeve. No, not the paper wrapping with which it's already adorned -- something else, that might make it look like an ice cream cone, a hamburger, or a tub of popcorn. (Because cupcakes are otherwise such unappealing foods.) Fortunately, such an item exists

Someone in Pasadena may be hired for .1 job. In an effort to save city funds, the Pasadena City Council elected today to cut 34.9 jobs, and to freeze pay for middle and upper level management, reports the Pasadena Star News. According to the article, the jobs were all vacant positions, so the cuts didn't result in any layoffs.

Sex offenders are routinely required to wear GPS tracking devices in an attempt to thwart future attacks -- but perhaps a more effective deterrent would be spraying them with something stank. The LA Times reports that a 14-year-old girl who broke free of a man as he attempted to grab off the sidewalk described her would-be attacker as stinky -- or, in police parlance, "he had a 'distinctly bad body odor,' [Cmdr. Josef Levy of the Long Beach Police Department] said."

Patricia Ann Izquieta, 38, was reportedly under the influence of several prescription medications, including methadone and clonazepam, when she struck Donald Murphy, 49, from behind as he rode his bike in Newport Beach.

The Daily News reports that the popular burger restaurant has opened its first location in the Valley, on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City: The red, white and black decor is reminiscent of a '60s to '70s glamorous Hollywood with white marble counters, black booths, red seats with gold studs (at the bar and tables) and fancy chandeliers.

Trojans, someone out there is not doing you proud. An email has been floating around -- and by floating around, I mean picked up nationally -- in which the writer, who is supposedly a member of USC's Kappa Sigma fraternity, lays out some not-so-flattering ideas about how to sleep with women. They include thinking of women as "targets" instead of people (see bolded, below), what makes a woman a desirable target (hint: it has little to do with her fine Trojan mind), and a rating system based on physical beauty.

A 43-year-old man who has authored a number of children's books has been arrested on charges of child molestation. According to KTLA, Michael Snyder was tracked down by police after a young girl's mother contacted authorities, suspecting him of having molested her daughter. The girl's age was not released, nor were the details of her interactions with Snyder.
