West Hollywood Patch reports that the product, which comes in the form of tablets, contains iodine, a chemical that helps stave off the effects of radiation, and has flown off the shelves at local health food markets:

You'd like to think that Alexandra Wallace, the charmer of a UCLA student who posted a racist rant about Asians last Friday, was drunk when she made her now-infamous video. Or high. Or very, very confused. Instead, the video was apparently part of what she hoped would become an entire blog -- an idea that was supported by her father. The Sacramento Bee reports: "...it seems the original video was not intended to be a one-time hit."

This week, testimony is being heard on Capitol Hill regarding the 2008 Metrolink crash in Chatsworth that killed 25 people and injured 150. The hearings are part of an attempt by Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Thousand Oaks) to have the company that is being held responsible for the crash pay victims more than the $200 million established by federal law. Among those testifying was 15-year-old Mackenzie Souser of Camarillo, whose father, 56-year-old Doyle Souser, was among those who died in the crash.

As a driver was pulling out of Geoffrey's in Malibu last night, he struck and killed a motorcyclist, reports the Daily News. The driver, 50-year-old Terry Turner, was visiting from Oklahoma and was found to be sober after undergoing tests. The motorcyclist, a 41-year-old man from Malibu whose name hasn't been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a report following the 2010 shooting of Westlake resident Manuel Jamines by LAPD Officer Frank Hernandez , the LA Police Commission stated that Jamines asked to die. Jamines was reportedly drunk and carrying a knife when Hernandez shot and killed him, after having been called by a concerned resident.

A 9th circuit court of appeals has found that a Muslim woman who was forced to remove her headscarf while in an Orange County jail may proceed with a lawsuit she filed against the county. Souhair Khatib was arrested in 2006 after a judge "revoked her probation from a misdemeanor welfare fraud conviction," reports KNBC. While imprisoned, guards made her take off her headscarf, which she wore for religious purposes.
