After rumors ran rampant yesterday with the news that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was being investigated by the California Attorney General, KABC reports that no such investigation is, or every was, underway: "Sources close to California Attorney General Kamala Harris said no such investigation is under way, and Schwarzenegger's attorney Martin Singer confirmed the news saying, 'The AG's office informed us that there was never any investigation over this tabloid story.'"

A woman who had never flown a plane before took control of an aircraft that her husband was flying after he lost consciousness, reports KTLA. The couple was flying to Colorado from San Bernadino when the pilot, a 70-year-old man, began experiencing hypoxia, in which the body doesn't get enough oxygen. He was able to communicate the name of the airplane to air traffic controllers before passing out.

Grieving Californians will no longer have to consider working during their bereavement period, according to a bill passed by the state assembly today. AB 325, authored by Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal, states that all employees -- from part-time to temporary to salaried -- will get four days of unpaid leave following the death of certain relatives, including a child, parent, spouse, domestic partner, grandparent, grandchild or sibling, reports the OC Register.

Two police officers from the Hawthorne and El Segundo police departments collided with each other while riding motorcycles and accompanying a funeral procession for another officer who recently lost his battle with cancer, reports the Sacramento Bee. After the officers crashed into one another, the officer from Hawthorne was thrown into oncoming traffic, where he collided with a sedan head-on. The driver of that vehicle wasn't hurt.

Quartz Hill resident Stacey Barker, 26, has been convicted in the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Emma Leigh Barker, reports the Daily News. The girl's body was found in March of 2009 near a highway in Sylmar. Barker originally told police that she had been knocked out and while she was unconscious, her daughter was kidnapped. The story prompted a 12-hour manhunt in the area for the kidnapper and the child.

A man drowned after attempting to swim across a reservoir in Northern California based on the belief that God was on the other side, reports CBS News. 25-year-old Victor Frasno, a resident of Florida, apparently tried to cross the lake despite the fact that he could not swim. According to CBS, Frasno's decision was likely based on predictions of the rapture made by Harold Camping.

When you spend all day reading and writing about the news, it's nice to occasionally come across a feel-good story. SO SUE ME. Today, that story happens to be about an 8-week-old kitten that was rescued from a storm drain in Winchester. The little fur nugget had somehow made it's way into the drain but couldn't get out, reports KTLA, and was stuck inside and crying.

If you thought it seemed a bit presumptuous on the part of Disney to file for trademark rights for the name "SEAL Team 6" a day after the elite Navy unit killed Osama bin Laden earlier this month, you weren't alone. Disney has withdrawn its application for rights to the name after the Navy stepped in to request that it keep the trademark, reports The Sacramento Bee.

Looks like the Dodgers aren't the only LA sports team involved in a lawsuit. As the baseball franchise learns that Bryan Stow's family will seek damages for the beating that left him in a coma on opening day, so too is the owner of the Staples Center finding out that a fatal injury sustained after a Lakers game in November of last year is now resulting in a lawsuit.
