To LAist, Thursday seems to be an eclectic hodgepodge of music and art. Not to say that any of it is bad, but there is a little something for most everyone going on tonight in and around the city.

MOCA's Public + Artist program brings artist William Basinski to MOCA at California Plaza at 6:30 PM. Basinski primarily composes experimental sound pieces using found sound and tape loops, so be prepared for an ear-bending evening.

Mellowdrone appears at The Troubadour with Abandoned Pools, The Joy Circuit and Secretary Bird. Doors open at 8:00 PM and tickets are $12.00 at the door.

Devendra Banhart will be performing songs from his album Rejoicing In The Hands free tonight at Amoeba Music. The show begins at 7:00 PM; LAist recommends showing up early, as this show will probably draw quite the crowd.

The Knitting Factory main lounge features Gogogo Airheart, Red Light Sting, Gerling, From Monument to Masses, The Leg and Pants Dans Theatre beginning at 7:30 PM. Admission is $8.00.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
