For a few years now, there has been a movement to turn the 3.6-mile 4th Street from Koreatown to near MacArthur Park into a Bicycle Boulevard. Next week, the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition will hold a meeting about the idea.

"While a Bicycle Boulevard on 4th may be in the city's current Bike Master Plan, it's one of the projects that exists on paper but hasn't seen a lot of energy from the city," explains Damien Newton at Streetsblog LA. "The first step has been coming up with a series of short-, medium- and long-term improvements for the street to help point the city towards what they should be doing. The second step is to build support with the residents of 4th Street so that the people demanding changes to 4th Street aren't just the cyclists who ride it."

Currently, the LACBC is looking to engage the broader public and hope to gain supporters as they develop a more concrete plan. 4th Street is already popular with cyclists, but a major step is outreach to the residents of the street to gain their support for an uber bicycle friendly neighborhood.
