Video: Zooey Deschanel Craves Soup from Her Favorite L.A. 'hood: Downtown!
Zooey Deschanel famously loves (to hate but no, really, heart) Downtown Los Angeles. And lest you think that whole debacle where she was reported dissing the redeveloping 'hood had been put to bed, we were tipped off to a subtle nod to the deliciousness of DTLA in the perky actress/singer's recently-released iPhone 4s commercial.
In the ad, a PJ-clad Zooey uses her technological BFF, Siri, to help her deal with a rainy Saturday in Los Angeles. Of course, a rainy day calls for soup, and Zooey uses Siri to tell her which nearby restaurants can deliver her some hot tomatoey (vegan!) goodness. If you check out her results, Zooey is hanging in Downtown, because she is close to Cabbage Patch, Arda's Cafe, and Mendocino Farms.
We don't learn her ultimate choice (we suggest Mendocino Farms, but that's just us) for her warming soup, but we did appreciate the subtle (and perhaps unintended) nod that Zooey digs DTLA enough to fake living there for a commercial.
