Riverside Man Run Over And Killed When Trying To Stop Daughter From Driving Drunk
An elderly Riverside man was killed Friday evening when he was run over by his own daughter in an effort to stop her from driving drunk.
Soukvilay Barton was backing out of the driveway from her family's home on the 14000 block of Bush Avenue yesterday around 6 p.m. when she struck her own father, 69 year-old Bounmy Rajsombath. He stood behind her BMW convertible as a last-ditch effort to keep her from getting on the road, according to The Press-Enterprise.
Rajsombath was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Barton had been drinking and arguing with family members when she decided to leave the house. Rajsombath had pleaded with her to not drive. Witnesses say Barton said she didn't see her father, and she had stopped the car when realized she had injured him.
Prior to being taken away in handcuffs by Riverside Police around 8 p.m., Barton sat on a chair in the front yard of the home sobbing. She faces a count of driving under the influence with additional charges pending.
