Photo: 'Django Unchained' Actress In The Car With Her Boyfriend Before She Was Handcuffed
When Django Unchained actress, Daniele Watts, was detained and handcuffed last week in Studio City after police received a 9-1-1 call that she was having sex with her boyfriend in a silver Mercedes with the passenger door wide open, she claimed that they were merely kissing. There are some newly released photos that show whom TMZ identifies as Watts straddling her boyfriend in a car. It's a little hard to tell what's going on from the photos, but witnesses say that they were doing a lot more than just making out.
The TMZ photos show a silver car parked alongside the street with the passenger door open, with a woman straddling someone in the passenger seat. The woman is bracing herself by hanging onto the sunroof. The rest of the photos don't show much more than the woman's backside facing the open door, so there's no way to actually tell from the photos if the two were merely having a hot and heavy make-out or actually having sex.
A witness from a nearby office building who was watching the events unfold outside of the CBS Studios last Thursday afternoon told TMZ that Watts was grinding on Lucas with her shirt pulled up and her breasts exposed. Someone from the office reportedly went downstairs to ask the couple to stop, but they didn't. Witnesses also said that Lucas was "horizontally bongoing her boobs back and forth" before they cleaned themselves off with a tissue and threw it on the grass.
When police arrived to the scene shortly after, LAPD Sgt. Jim Parker asked for their IDs; while Lucas complied, Watts refused to give him hers, saying that they had done nothing wrong. That led Parker to handcuff and briefly detain Watts. After investigating, authorities released the two, saying that there was no evidence of any crime committed. The couple took to social media to accuse Parker of being racist and said that they believed Parker assumed Watts was a prostitute because she's black and Lucas was her client because he's white.
TMZ obtained an audio recording of the detainment, where Watts is heard calling Parker racist. He later told the L.A. Times that he just wanted to ID, not arrest them. Parker also told KFI AM 640 on Monday that the audio was recorded off of his personal recording device, according to KPCC. While LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said in a press conference on Tuesday that the officers acted appropriately and "took proper actions" during the incident, he said that he'll be investigating Watts' side of the story and whether Parker had given the recording to TMZ.
UPDATE 3:30 p.m. Lucas told TMZ that while he found the photos "quite entertaining and fascinating," it only proves his point: that the couple was fully clothed. He adds that there will be no pictures of Watts' exposed breasts—because it never happened the way witnesses said. He added that the couple met with LAPD Tuesday to give a statement on the incident.
