The edgy and tough LAPD officer on LOST, Ana Lucia Cortez, or actor Michelle Rodriguez, began her 180 jail sentence yesterday at 4:00 p.m. Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood is the same facility where Paris Hilton spent her jail time and Rodriquez, who is serving time for violating her probation after a DUI hit-and-run, will be spending a much longer time than her character might ever spend on the island:

In June 2004, Rodriguez pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of hit-and-run driving, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license and was placed on three years probation. She served about four hours of a 60-day jail sentence in May 2006 as a result of the county's early-release program.

According to the celebrity gossip Web site TMZ.com, Rodriguez did not
commit any more crimes, but violated probation by failing to show proof of
completion of her community service and consuming alcohol three times while wearing an alcohol monitoring device. When Rodriguez was sentenced on the probation violations in October, the judge said she must serve her entire 180-day term behind bars, TMZ reported. [CBS2]

For fans of of the show, LOST begins on Thursday, January 31st.
