Magic Johnson Wants to Buy the Dodgers
Basketball legend Magic Johnson is considering putting his immense fortune behind a different local sport: baseball. KTLA reports that Johnson has put in a bid to buy the Dodgers. The bid was announced today to the LA Times, and because he's so damn rich, Johnson has his money ready to go and is therefore ahead in the line-up of bidders. He had this to say about one of the reasons he wants the team:
"I love baseball...I've been a Dodgers fan and gone to the park many, many times."
Outgoing owner Frank McCourt will be the one to pick his replacement, and according to KTLA, he said lat month that what he's looking for in an owner is passion [ed. note: and money].
"It's somebody who is a huge baseball fan, who loves this community and is willing to commit to this community and put everything they have into it," he said, "and bring a world championship to L.A."
