There's going to be a pretty major DUI crackdown in Los Angeles over the St. Patrick's Day weekend, so think twice about getting behind the wheel after drinking all that green beer.

Even though the holiday doesn't actually start until Monday, authorities are expecting Angelenos to start partying early. The LAPD released a list of sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols in our city of Angels.

Some folks think listing checkpoints allows drunk drivers to get away with putting lives in danger, but research shows that publicizing these spots actually lowers the number of drunk drivers on the road.

"People having foresight aren't the ones who are committing this crime," LAPD Chief Charlie Beck told LAist. "People who are thinking ahead aren't the ones that this checkpoint is likely to catch. I think that the publicity surrounding these things is so important that if you give a couple of locations, that's fine."

Here are the checkpoints in the area:

Friday, March 14

There will be a DUI saturation patrol in the Central Bureau area from 4 P.M. to 12 A.M.
