What's the update on these? From the Department of Transportation (.pdf):
In Spring of 2008, LADOT will begin to replace an additional 5,000 on-street parking meters with advance technology single space meters and multi-space Park and Pay Stations in locations throughout the City. Each parking space will have a designated number and the customer only needs to input the assigned number of the parking space into the Park and Pay station located near you. The Park & Pay Stations will feature easy to follow step-by-step payment instruction.
