We need to hear from you.
Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. The local news you read here every day is crafted for you, but right now, we need your help to keep it going. In these uncertain times, your support is even more important. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership. Thank you.

The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied -- and sated, for that matter.

Pies, pies and more pies: KCRW’s 5th Annual Good Food Pie Contest is taking place at LACMA on Saturday (and our own Lindsay William-Ross is among the judges), and the party will continue with a celebration at Ray’s & Stark Bar, where they're putting on a pie-centric dinner. The judges might be all pied out, but for those who didn't have to sample a gazillion of them, there'll be savory Hare Pie with slow braised rabbit, baby carrots, and topped with a flaky crust and a pie-in-a-glass cocktail featuring muddled peach, Larceny bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and raspberries, topped with spiced foam and a graham cracker crumble garnish. You can find out more information about the Pie Contesthere.

Pop-up white picnic in the park: PopUp LA will hold its second annual “pop-up picnic.”, inspired by the popular French Diner en Blanc series that finally came to L.A. this year. On the day of the event, dress in all-white, pack your own picnic, libations (avoid the red wine), table settings, and make sure to check your email at 3 p.m. to find out where you'll be dining for the night (They supply the tables, but everything else is up to you and your crew.) Though the location is still TBD, the organizers have revealed that it will be outdoors and on the Westside. Last year's was at the Natural History Museum, which was a cool backdrop for the massive dinner. Tickets for the pop-up are on sale now for $32 a piece. You can find out more info here.

Roy Choi collabo with The Meatball Shop: The Meatball Shop's co-owners, Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow, are making a trip out to L.A. to cook alongside Roy Choi at his Venice Beach restaurant this Saturday. The feast will go down from 5:00pm—2:00am. The trio, whose friendship stretches back almost two decades, will offer signature items from The Meatball Shop’s mix-and-match menu of balls, salads and sides, and Choi will create his own special ball for the dinner, too. You can find out more info here.
