Going to the second weekend of Desert Trip? You'll be serenaded by the likes of Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan, Sir Paul McCartney and Wall-builder Roger Waters and also have a bounty of food options to fuel through the weekend.
Just like at Coachella, plenty of our favorite Los Angeles-based restaurants have set up shop at the Empire Polo Club, slinging gourmet treats like wood-fired pizzas, banh mi, and craft ice cream. And just because you'll be in the desert sucking in all that dust from the dying Salton Sea doesn't mean you have to eat a bunch of trash too.
New to Desert Trip is the Culinary Experience, an exclusive, all-you-can-drink-and-eat area on the festival grounds. This isn't just some crappy buffet, but features bites from the like of Broken Spanish, Hanjip, Sotto and even Brooklyn's own Roberta's Pizza. The drink program is curated by some pretty big names, including the Houston Brothers and Greg Koch of Stone Brewing Company. You can head on in once the festival gates open at 2 p.m. and stay until the first act takes the stage just after 6 p.m., so you'll have plenty of time to pace your endless consumption.
Even if you didn't shell out the cash for the Culinary Experience passes, you'll still have plenty of fine options throughout the grounds. Oh Man! Ramen is doing dan dan mian, Phorage has juicy and tender pulled pork banh mi, and Full of Life Flatbread dragged their wood-fire oven all the way from Los Alamos to make organic pizzas. For vegetarians there will be plenty of options, including Sage Organic Bistro, who have set up inside the festival and in the camping area.
And if you really want to class it up, there's always Outstanding in the Field with their fine-dining outdoors.
