OC's The Lime Truck Opening Restaurant in Westwood
So maybe Westwood isn't totally dying: Orange County's popular Lime Truck is prepping to park it permanently in Los Angeles in the form of a brick-and-mortar restaurant in the 'hood by UCLA.
The Vendy Award-nominated Lime Truck is branching out into the 105-seat TLT Food, which will be located near 800 Degrees Pizzeria, according to the OC Weekly.
Owner Daniel Shemtob says diners at the forthcoming TLT Food will be ordering from a menu showcasing "the same creative recipes and local, organic and sustainably sourced ingredients that they'd find at The Lime Truck." The restaurant will also serve beer and wine.
The Lime Truck also enjoyed time in the reality teevee spotlight, thanks to them taking the win in the second season of The Food Network's "Great Food Truck Race."
TLT Food is expected to open in mid-October; the four Lime Trucks will keep rolling around on their regular routes, too.
Also encouraging news for Westwood is the forthcoming iPic movie theatre that's replacing the old Avco AMC; maybe the "Westwood is Great!" crew is on to something.
